Our Classroom
We know how important it is for First Steps Pre-School to feel like a home away from home for your little ones.
We’re proud to be based within the beautiful St Michael’s buildings, and we truly believe the children thrive in such a wonderful setting.
First Steps operates from two spacious classrooms, each carefully arranged to create a variety of learning areas. Our main room is divided into a toddler area and a baby area, offering a shared, open environment where all children can learn together, with age-appropriate opportunities throughout. We also have a dedicated pre-school room, featuring a Montessori area, a role-play space, and even a special area for our pet tortoise, Speedy!
Our age groups range from 9 months to 5 years, with the following staff ratios:
1 adult to 3 children under 2 years
1 adult to 4 children for children under 3 years
1 adult to 8 children for children over 3 years
We aim to keep our classroom as creatively decorated as possible to engage our First Steps pre-schoolers, and we organise our toys and play equipment in a Montessori-inspired style to encourage independent play, learning, and responsibility.
