EYFS Curriculum
First Steps Pre-School follows the national Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) Curriculum, a framework set out by the Department of Education, recognising the overall nature of development and learning at this age.
Every day at First Steps we are encouraging your child to become lifelong learners and discover their full potential, in and out, of the classroom!
Our curriculum includes:
Prime Areas
- Personal, Social, and Emotional Development– learn to work, play co-operate with others, and participate in a group
- Communication and Language – forms the basis for listening, attention, understanding, and speaking
- Physical Development – physical control, mobility, and manipulation skills, both indoors and outside.
Specific Areas
- Literacy – linking sounds to letters and beginning to read and write.
- Mathematics – concepts of numeracy, shapes, space, counting, and measure
- Understanding the World – the environments, the people, and both natural and manmade technology
- Expressive Art and Design – children’s imagination and ability to express ideas in creative mediums.
Our staff here at First Steps are truly caring and invested in helping your child grow in both skills and confidence, whilst also getting them ready for primary school.
